Default nos amperex authentic? label doesn't rub off

i bought a pair of gold pin white label amperex 6922 from a Chinese seller on ebay for half of their usual price. this is my first reason for doubt. the tube has all the right characteristics for an authentic nos including acid etched lettering, correct looking nipples, plates, getters. and yes, it does sound considerably better than the philips it replaced. however, the white labels do not rub off even when i try scratching it with my fingernails. is this possible? what tubes are they? please let me know. thank you.

Etched code near the bottom? It will tell you who made it and when. If it starts wiht a star (* - asterisk) it's US made, delta (right triangle) is Heerlen, Netherlands.

Richardson owns the trademarks "Amperex" and "Bugle Boy". They can label anything they want with those, and they aren't "fakes". But they sure aren't "NOS".

I found that out the hard way about 10yrs ago when a HK based eBay seller passed off Richardson rebranded mil surplus based "Amperex" as the real deal. (Vintage NOS) I knew the difference even then, but the seller did not disclose that these were the "new" Amperex, when I got them "disappointment" doesn't adequately describe how I or my wallet felt.. Personally I think Richardson is a pox upon the tube world..

mine has the right triangle etching and 'made in holland' printed at the top which still doesn't rub off no matter how hard i try. are you saying that even with correct etchings it can still be fakes? how can i trust anything with that kind of possibility...

I'd believe the etched codes and internal construction. Those wouldn't be worth faking... anyway, most "fakes" aren't - they're relabeled by the maker whose name is on it.
