Default New SET Project

I'm working on a new project involving a potted choke. Spacing is tight on my chassis, so in order to achieve a symmetrical layout, I need to orient the PT and choke in the following way:

The thing is, I suspect that the core inside the potted choke would be in line with that of the PT, and be more vulnerable to its EMR. Should I be concerned with this?

If so, I can sacrifice some symmetricality..

I'll post a schematic soon, I just have to draw it out nicely.

Thanks

Layout is always somewhat experimental, I'd say just try it out on the bench and measure or listen what works best. It's surprising sometimes how it turns out differently than expected.

Rotating the PT or choke 90 deg. is also something you could try...

The chassis isn't wide enough for me to rotate one of them 90 degrees, that's the problem.

When I post the schematic, you'll see what tubes I'm using, sorry for the mystery until then..

I once read someone used headphones to determine optimal placement -- plugged headphones in the opt secondary and then moved stuff around for minimal hum.

Not sure how he connected the opt primaries, though.

hey-Hey!!!,
ON my RCA 6146 amp all the iron except for the OPT is oriented the same way; power TX, choke and heater TX. It is this set that we need to keep from the opt.
cheers,
Douglas
