Is it possible to convert the Dynaco Stereo 70 to use KT88s? What is the easiest way? Would the stock transformers be adequate?

The output transformers will likely be just fine. The power transformer is barely adequate for four EL34, much less a quad of KT88. Forget about trying to use a single 5AR4 for power supply rectification.
Other than those minor issues, the conversion is straightforward. Bob Latino sells such an amp commercially. Perhaps you could look at his design and try to clone it. http://www.tubes4hifi.com/bob |
