Gentlemen
I purchased but haven't received as yet a PA-3 preamp. According to what I have been told it has 3 5814A tubes. It is non-working and I would like to find some information before I tear into it to either gut it and start over or to repair it. Frank It looks like I may have to draw up yet another schematic. OH GOD! Any help or information would be much appreciated. Joe |

Hi Joe,
IIRC this company is/was based in Arizona but I need to check. 5814s are, ahum...12AU7s. I'll check later this afternoon...need some coffee first. Cheers,

Hi Joe,
Did a google this afternoon but their website is redirecting to a useless site. I hope the preamp is hardwired, so much easier to draw the schematic. Cheers,

Thanks for trying. I think I will probably scrap the circuit(pc boards) and 12au7's and go for something better. Any ideas on circuit would be appreciated. Joe I will draw up the schematic and post it for others to look at before I scrap it. OH God, another hand drawn schematic

Would your circuit be under "Franks preamp"? If so, I don't have a doubt as to its performance. I may however need some guidance. Joe |

Hi Joe,
If you mean Antique etc...I wouldn't know. Have you checked the phone listings? Cheers,

I got my preamp today and half the transformer is trashed. I had to disconnect one side of it to remove the short. The reading I took are as follows: orange pair of wires 51volts ac, blue pair of wires 3.2 volts ac, purple pair of wires 121volts ac. I assume I need a transformer with secondaries of 6.3 volts, 100volts, and 240 volts. If this is correct where do I find one?
