So, in my ongoing search for the perfect small tube head, I came across Ampmaker.
Amp Maker - Guitar amp kits and valve / tube amplifier components I'm interested if anyone can comment on the quality of the kits mentioned there. I guess it isin't exactly the most hard-core DIY project out there, since it's a kit, but what caught my attention was the price, especially of the 5w version. Basically everything you need (transformer, tubes, turret board, components etc.) minus a chassis are all at a price of 100 gbp. So basically what I'm getting at is that this seems to be the most bang for the buck situation. I guess if anyone's got any better projects that I could pull off for about 200-300 USD, fell free to tell me. |

You might get more response if you post this question on ax84.com/bbs, or 18watt.com. Or just use their search function- I expect you'll find lots of glowing reviews of Barry's (Ampmaker) products.

I've bought parts from them before and the service was first class.
That amp looks good value as a kit. |
