Choke?

Hi!
I'm thinking of bulding Triode Dick's "Bill KT88" ( http://www.triodedick.com/ )
In his PSU he's have two chokes 5H/500mA..I'm haveing 2 chokes 3H/500mA. Is it a big diffrents? What will that do to preformence?

3H's are probably good enough. An important thing to look at is the resistance of the choke where it may raise or drop the voltage if it doesn't match the 5H spec's.

Download and model your power supply and and the Bill power supply in PSUDII. You will probably have slightly more ripple, and depending on the DC resistance of your chokes, your final B+ may be a little high or low, but they should work just fine.

The software is quite accurate and straightfoward to use (and free), and will allow you to predict your B+ voltages, as well as ripple, ringing/overshoot, etc.

I have been toying with the idea of building the Bill or the mono Bill, so I'm curious about this design.....

Thanks. I will use my 3H and try them out..Mine have 9 ohm more dc resistanse (my 35 ohm and Hammond 5H/500 have 26 ohm)
