Hello all,
I have used the 220VAC -> 110VAC Triad N-68X transformer (wired in reverse) for a preamp power supply before on a 12B4 pre, and wonder if it can be used for the 6SN7/6SN7 Aikido. The tranny should be able to do a target of 125ma easily enough. Spec sheet is attached... I have to run it in PSU designer, but should be around a B+ of 270V with a SS Rectifier and CRCRC filter... I have a separate tranny for the filaments.

This is driving me nuts. i have a aikido preamp powered by a nx66 transformer. hooked up backwards to get 230 volts. it has a loud mechanical hum. even with no load. should i order another or what. this transformer also has a shield in the primary side that is often mistook for a center tap, it is not. so remember that what i am calling the primary is what i use as the secondary. so does anyone else have a mechanical hum? its loud enuff to hear and gets very annoying.

You tied red/black to yel/black and measured from Black to Green/black with 110v mains on the reds?
White does not get connected at all. Is the tranny hot?

I use a signal transformer A-41-43-230 with the same annoying buzz issue.
Mine is a Aikido LSA/HPA board. I have the triad toroid VPT230-220 on order from Mouser. Art |
