I have a bunch of questions regarding layout.
First off, I'm building the pre using salas's shunt reg for the HV supply and 317s for the heaters. Is it important that the power supply be housed in a separate box. Are there drawbacks to doing it that way? Does anyone have layout pics (I saw some of Sheldon's pics but it was hard to tell what exactly was going on there in the preamp and his PSU is different). I was thinking I'd probably do this mostly point to point with a little help from some terminal strips. Then I can lay my heaters flat on the bottom of the chassis. Any advice welcome, specific or general. Once I get a rough idea of what I want I'll work up some drawings and post 'em. Ben |
