I'm interested to buy a valve amplifier. I doesn't know which brands are available in the market that have valve amplifiers.
For myself it doesn't make a difference what brand is or from which country it is made. What I need is that the preamp and the power amp of this product will be made by valves only. I doesn't want a single transistor or mosfet or IC's in the circuit of the preamp or the power amp. The power output that I'm searching for is between 45 to 100 wrms per channel. If it is available to with bass and treble too. Thanks Alot and Best Regards |

Hi,
Well... you kind of have to listen to several amps before coming to a conclusion of what you want. There are a few great sounding valve amps, a few more good sounding ones, mostly average sounding ones and a few mediocre sounding ones. Very few valve amps come inergrated with a preamp and even fewer with tone controls. And my opinion would be attached to my ears only.. what you like, I don't know What's your budget? That may narrow the field. Cheers! |

What sort of music do you listen to? What is the listening space size? What speakers are you wanting to match to? And whats the problem with silicon? Is this only for listening to 78's or will it have a digital source as well?

Right I doesn't have speakers. When I will buy the amplifier then I will buy a set of speakers and matched with the amplifier.
I doesn't have specific music. That's why I'm searching for one with tones control at least Bass and Treble and if it is possible with midrange too. Music that I hear is from all kinds depends the mood that I want to hear by that particular time. Country, Reggae, Dance, R&B, Classic, Rock, Soundtracks, Folk, Ballad and so on. Speakers I was going to use Eminence but right now I have nothing. Only what I have is a PC and small JBL surround ESC200. When I watch movies the sound is great but to music it is very diffirent and for me the performance is low with the same surround compare the music to movies on the same sound system. Right now I have a valve radio Graetz Sinfonia 522 which it has 52 years old. From this one that's why I'm interested into a valve amplifier. Thanks Alot and Best Regards |

I am not sure that you will need all that power. However Transcendent makes a kit for high power, and also a preamplifier:
http://www.transcendentsound.com/ http://www.transcendentsound.com/BeastOTL.htm http://www.transcendentsound.com/T16OTL.htm http://www.transcendentsound.com/preampkit.htm For an alternative preamplifier consider the Aikido from GlassHouse/TubeCad: http://www.tubecad.com/ http://glass-ware.stores.yahoo.net/newhardware.html These (noted above) do not have tone controls, however you may modify them later to add tone controls. There is some information on adding Tone controls here: http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/...mp-Tone-A.html http://home.comcast.net/~stphkeri/tone_control.html |

Those links are good ones but it is over my budget.
When searched on ebay there was no item with tone so I would make one by myself from those circuits. I found this amplifier, Yaqin MC-100B and I have a question about the wattage output. ultra-linear 2x 65W RMS, triode state 2x 45W RMS (8 ohm) On it's pictures there isn't a switch that you can switch from ultra-linear to triode state. What I found is that for the both channels (right and left) there is Ground, 4 ohm and 8 ohm. The only switches that I found is the power switch and one to switch the volatge for the input between 0.25v and 0.6v |

The circuit digram shows a switch by the output transformer:

Thanks Alot this thread is very helpful about the amplifier. When I touch those capacitors I think that would feel that voltage There is the grid and I will not remove it if there is only a fault or for particular settings. I like to makes things safe for me and other ones. |
