PreampPSU need help

hi all,

need ur help on designing PSU for a preamp..have tried PSU DESIGNER 2 to simulate this..what would be the value of R1?
what's R1? tube Ra?

R1 represents the load that your pre-amp circuit imposes on the psu and so it should be sized to represent the current draw you are making on the psu at your target voltage.

Alternatively you can change the load resistor for a constant current drain at the current draw of your circuit.

The help files with the programme provide some explaination of this and Duncan has a forum on his website for helping people using PS designer 11.

Tone,

In your PSU you show a 330-0-330 V xformer.(660V)
The 5Y3GT is not going to drop all that many volts for you to end up wit a 330V supply after the chokes.

I don't have a chart at hand for the moment but I feel a 220-0-220 would be more than ample to arrive at 330VDC.
