Hi!
I know that bi- or trifilar winding gives the best coupling in transformers. It lowers the leakage inductance (and raises the primary-to-secondary winding-to-winding capacitance, which can be a bad thing....). etc. Could somebody tell me what is the limit until we can use multifilar windings? I know if the coil has few turns it is good, but what is with more turns? How can I calculate it? Greets: Tyimo |

You might be able to get an idea by playing with this: http://www.dissident-audio.com/OPT_da/Page.html
Try setting the inter layer insulation thickness to a very small value (0.0001) and interleaving as much as you can. I think the limit is 9 layers, but you can see how the inter winding capacitance increases. Sheldon |

Tyimo, can you use multifilar wire now?
