Hi,
Do any Canadians on here know where I can pick up the Triad C-14X choke? It's only a $15 choke but Allied Electronics wants anywhere between $13-21 to ship it plus a $5 handling fee. That means this choke could end up costing $50 just to get it here. Thanks |

Can you not use a Hammond? Must it be a Triad?
Cheers! |

I have one in my tubelab se and if i knew i would have bought a hammond 193 i don't remember the exact value but encapsulated
looks very nice and if resistance lower you will get higher voltage. http://www.partsconnexion.com/t/cata...nsformers.html or hammond direct |

Thanks for the replies. The Hammond 193 is $40-60 (depending on model) (not including shipping, taxes, etc.). According to George's website, the Triad will do the job just fine and it's only $15 (if I can get it shipped cheaply). I don't care if it's ugly as it will be hidden in the chassis. Whatever money I can save will go towards my Electra-prints.
Any other ideas? |

The Triad is an open frame, the Hammond 193 is their fancy bell-end model. That's the price difference.
Try a Hammond 159Q. Cheers! |

Thanks for the suggestion Gregg. Still double the price of the Allied, but with more reasonable shipping prices, it will probably work out to be the same cost.

The Hammond site lists retail for the 159Q at $35.89. Where do you live? You should be able to find a local store that'll sell you it for catalogue-20%, or about $CDN29. I doubt that you can get the Allied shipped to you for $US25 or $CDN29.

PartsConnexion has it for $31.23. They don't have a handling charge and will send anyway you want it. Plus they're having a 20% sale, maybe they'll take a little more off the price if you ask . . . . |
