Are the pin numbers for tubes as looked at from the bottom or top?

Thanks, Leadbelly. It would have been less than good to have assumed that the pinout was from the top, like the integrated circuits are!

Bottom, you count the pins clockwise.

Many IO types have numbers on the tags. Always read from underneath.
