Ok...last one tonight...maybe...I would like to change the 6SQ7 to a 6SL7 in a SE guitar amp I have. Two reasons :
1 : The 6SQ7 is grid-leak bias, which makes it risky to use any kind of pedal in front to heat up the input, and :
2 : To take advantage of the 6SL7's amp factor ( 70 vs 19 for the pentode.)
Doesn't look to hard...but as always, I don't want to fry anything. This little guy is from 1954 and has a great tone for recording, but not enough break-up to suit the blues/bluesrock side of my personalities....
