SE cathode bias question

Generally speaking, does a higher plate current cause a harder/brighter sound? Does a lower plate current cause a warmer/rounder sound?

I have a SE amp I want to tweak but not sure which way is logical.

No and no. I think you'll have to experiment on your particular amp.

Within limits of the supporting components (OPT, etc.) and assuming the tube isn't being biased poorly, I've always found higher currents through triodes correspond with lower second harmonic at the expense of raising higher harmonic components. That generally matches the bright-harsh/warm-round description. Of course, this also ignores plate impedance, harmonic cancellation, feedback, etc..
