Default Audio Research D90 - Info

Does anybody have any info on this amp eg. pictures, review/opinions, circuit diagram etc?

To which other amp can you compare this amp and what is a good 2nd hand price to pay for one that need some repairs?

Default How much is a plane ticket?

JDeV, you are seriously winding everybody up with all this lovely audio kit you keep finding. First a pair of Mullard 5-20s, then KT77, now an Audio Research. Whatever will you find next?

Seriously, I don't know about the D90, but would have thought a search would dig something up.

You are right about finding nice stuff, the only not so nice thing that I "did not " find was those KT77's. It was mentioned in a previous thread that sometimes those "old guys" got some nice surprises, in this case it was a "not so nice" surprise. The KT77's turned out to be KT66's, but I did get a couple of brand new 12AX7's (2 x RCA, 2 x GE and 2 x "India") - all matched pairs - still in boxes for $20 the lot. Apparently the "India" tubes (is that the real brand?) was org. used by Audio Research in their amps.

KT66's are not to be sniffed at either! Have a look at prices for NOS GEC KT66 on eBay (atmospheric), and KT88 (stratospheric).

Default I have the schematic

But unfortunately only on paper, and the quality is not the best. I heard this amplifier it was good, but D70MkII better, and VT100 much better! Of course D90 should be cheaper...
