OK. I just finished my first DIY build a month or two ago. I built a Tubelab Simple SE. And still to this day I am floored by its performance and how well it turned out in general.
Now... Now I want to build a tube pre amp to drive the simple SE. Why? Because I love tubes and want more. I'm currently looking at the offerings from Aikido right now but wanted to start a thread so maybe you guys could point me in the right direction. I want a tube rectified pre amp with a phono stage that can drive the Simple SE. Keep in mind I have no previous experience except the tubelab SE I built. So I need something thats so easy to build a cave man could do it. If theres something I haven't covered just let me know. But please feel free to post any recommendations, opionons, pictures, links, or help of any kind. I would appriciate it. Thanks Nick |

After reading through pre amp threads for weeks. I have decided to go with Aikido for my pre amp build.
I have decided to use the octal stereo line stage board with 4 6sn7 tubes. http://glass-ware.stores.yahoo.net/paraikocster.html I feel pretty confident I can source my parts and build my board and chassis. But I am a little confused about the Power Source. Would this work or am I way off? http://glass-ware.stores.yahoo.net/jashrekit.html Nick |

The Janus board should work fine. Though the Aikido is built to reject noise so I am sure you could do OK as well with just a C-L-C power supply. If you use the Janus board though please report with how they are, I know I for one would be interested.

Nick,
GlassWare also has an even more complete AIKIDO with on-board power. http://glass-ware.stores.yahoo.net/aiallinoneki.html Anyhow, you can not go wrong with an AIKIDO. The PCB is superb, and so is the support from GlassWare and this forum.
