Thinking of putting together an Aikido line preamp with a 6SN7 or 12SN7 on the input tubes and a 5687 on the output. Anyone tried this combination?

Hi eeyore!
I don´t know if this combination is possible at all? Maybe if you are going to PTP-wireing the amplifier???. According to Broskies kits this is not possible since the 6SN7 is a 8-pin tube and the 5687 is a 9-pin tube. AFAIK the 5687 has a very good reputation so if you would like this tube in the output stage you could try the 6CG7 (alternatively; 6FQ7 = 6CG7 without the screen between plates) instead. The 6CG7 is the 9-pin version of the 6SN7. Kind regards Karsten |

You are right in that I am planning to PTP wire it. Am looking for a combination to give good sound but will also be able to drive two amps at once since I am going to biamp with a LF sub and then a FR from around 100 to 200 hZ up.
