Thanks a lot, that's very kind. I am currenty working my way through this website that i found > http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/ which will hopefully give me a better understanding of some of the general principals at work in amps.

Looking at the early circuit diagrams right now, i wouldn't even know where to start in removing the Top Boost channel!

I am not sure that site will help all that much with tubes. You should look through the sticky thread at the top of this forum:

Take a look at the Valve Wizard site. It's guitar amp specific.
