DIY Amp Contest in Japan

DIY Amplifier Contest at Audio Festa 2009 Japan has been finished. An 812A SE amp was awarded by the judging committee.

This amp was designed and build by my friend, Mr. Takayanagai whose photo with the amp is shown below.

If I remember correctly, Takayanagi is one of the ancient samurai family names.

Takayanagi-san has done his tradition proud.

What are the judging criteria? Measurements, aesthetics, sonic quality (tough one) or something else?

The judging members seem to be from manufacturers of
Japanese Audio Equipment, such as Fostex, SONY, Pioneer.

The judging criteria was not opened. I suppose SONIC
since the out looking of the awarded speaker was ugly but
it was the best SONIC as far as I listened in the exhibition.
