Use 2X SE output transformers fo 1x PP

If you took 2 identical SE transformers and tied the ground tap of one primary to the plate tap of the other, that would become the center tap. Would you then parallel the secondaries and if so, would it then drive 1/2 of the impedance of the originally specified load? (If original output impedance 8-ohm, 2 of same in parallel for 4-ohm?). Or, would there be another way to use the secondary? (In the above, the secondary would have only 1 output impedance & ground.

Just curious on this, any comments?

:)

It still won't work the same as a conventional pp trans since there would be no magnetic coupling between the two primaries. You will still need the 8 ohms for the tube to see the correct primary impendance. All your doing is basically making one se tranny that can deal with twice the power of a single.

That works only for air core RF xfmrs where you don't care about DC magnetization, and where the distortion from less than perfect balance is wiped out by LC tuners and/or BPFs and antenna matching networks. For audio, the results aren't going to be so swell. Best bet: if you don't need the SE OPTs, sell 'em on fraud bay and get a decent PP OPT.
