Picture of completed amp.

PT is Espey Mfg from US Army Signal Corp Transmitter.

OPT's are unknown from Ebay.

Chassis is Solid Red Oak base and Red Oak veneered plywood top.

I used copper clad board to build up the circuit then affixed the board to underside of the wooden chassis. The copper clad board allows me to solder to a ground plane easier and terminal strips can be soldered on where needed also.

Wish I knew how to post more pics

Nice tubes to use. Most linear and friendly. Your design? If yes how much is its gain in dB? Did you measure hum residual, I see minimal PSU filtering...can you hear any hum? Looks around doing 10W? What kind of speakers?

The design is pilfered from a few schematics I searched off the web and then modified by me to suit tubes and sockets I had on hand.

Yes the PS filtering is minimal and there is audible hum in a quiet room. I would think for the discerning ear more filtering, perhaps a choke would be better but since it is just being used right now for casual listening at my computer desk it is fine.

My calculations give me about 9 watts but until I get my preamp finished I cannot drive it to audible distortion with just my sound card outputs.

The speakers are a little bit of "overkill" for my computer desk, they are a pair of Older Yamaha NS-A636's.

I have not done any testing as to the output but I can easily produce enough sound to annoy my wife and kids!!

I am new to the tube amp and home audio hobby having been a "Car Audio" kind of guy for years.

The "soundstage" is excellent and I am hearing things in songs that I never heard before.

An open loop circuit with such inherently linear tubes can' t sound less than ''musical'' at least. Good build. The choke is a good idea, will up resolution along minimizing hum. Look for Hammond chokes.

First thing I noticed after going hollow state. It's amazing how much you miss when listening to solid state, Big Box designs. It's like getting a whole new CD collection.

Very, very cool amps & great usage of parts for it. Smaller OT's have a tendancey IMO to beat out many a larger OT in mids. I have no explantion for this, just notice it. I buils alot of amps with wood tops & once you get a system for it down it becomes a very nice way to do it as yours looks great.

Thanks for the compliments. I am wondering if anyone would be interested in purchasing this or others? I am currently a victim of the plummet in the economy and have plenty of spare time.

I really enjoy listening to this amp and would hate to sell it, but my wife suggested that it might be a nice little home business if there was a market for them.

I am thinking that in the next version that I am most likely to build and offer for sale when complete I would go with Hammond PT & Chokes and OPT's from Edcor CXPP25's?

Any ideas what kind of price I could get for something like this?
