It seems that VR tubes can be a little tricky to incorporate as regulators in single ended designs. I get a significant speaker pop when the ionization voltage is reached on power up (because it quickly drops to the regulation voltage).
I know others are using them, but I have yet to hear anyone mention similar problems. The only solution I can think of is to apply B+ before the heaters. Though this is generally bad practice. Anyone got any tricks?
For the time being, I'm using a Zener diode. Though it would be cool to use a VR tube instead (they look cool and I have a quantity of them).
