Default primaluna dialogue 5 and fanboys?

just got a primaluna yesterday. has the stock tubes, sounds quite bright, harsh even compared with other tube amps i've owned. bought it used so its broken in. I've read to roll the 12AX7 to amprexe or mullards and heard good things on rft and clear top rca for the 12au7. how about the power tubes?
stay with kt88, 6550 or go with el34's. anybody had this amp and what where your thoughts?

oh - by the way the preamp is a solidstate old yamaha c-60 I had laying around. I've got a 3 tube cary slp-30 coming this week - I guess the yamaha could be the source of the harshness.

thanks
