I've looked at the curves for battery valves, and they didn't look promising...
Another way to look at it is to realise that valves are only slightly noisier than transistors, but that they operate with x10 supplies, which automatically gives them greater dynamic range. Battery valves don't have this advantage.
Still, if you've got them, try them out, and see what happens.

Conversely this is why, when transistors, mosfets mostly, are run at higher voltage rails sound much more dynamic and alive.
