I am looking for filament transformers for a push pull 2A3 amp. Hammond makes a 2.5V 6A (166Q2), but as it is Hammond, and as they are spec'd for 115V primaries, and as they are 6A transformers, they are almost certainly going to run too hot. Anyone know an off the shelf transformer that will work? Do I need to go the E-P route?

I am sure you thought about this option, but I will throw it in anyway: get a toroidal and put some extra secondaries on it!

One interesting arrangement was placing a small pilot lamp in series with the 115VAC primary winding for the Hammond 166L2 to reduce the voltage as shown here:
www.hagtech.com/pdf/clarionarticle.pdf Could easily adapt this to the 166Q2 as well. Regards, KM
