I have a few guitar amps from the 30's and 4o's .the one from the 40's has a Black metal tube that reads
E-8128 clarostat I cant find any info on it or any codes for testing. M |

Clarostat made resistors - could that be a clue?
This is probably a ballast resistor for a series heater string. Such amplifiers are potentially very hazardous unless an isolation transformer is used. |

I added an isolation transformer in line, I would like to test that resistor but i cant find any info on it,or another one.Its been getting hotter and hotter lately.
