Hi
I am building a guitar amp with tube rectifier. the design only has one cap (Of filtration) before power tubes ( it has other filtration for input tube and another for screen supply). B+ Might be an issue if I use too large a resistor for an rc stage and I dont have a lot of room for a choke. The 2 dollar question is what is the smallest Resistor I can place in a CRC configuration that will have a meaningful effect? Smallest as in Value not wattage. If I put a large one in I will get too much of a drop in b+ or alternately I note Hammond make a 3 to 5 H choke that can handle up to 300mA.... I know a choke is preferable but i will have to remount power transformer All help Appreciated Thanks Nick

Download this and plug in numbers until you get what you want: http://www.duncanamps.com/psud2/index.html
If you measure your power transformer primary and secondary resistance, and unloaded primary and secondary voltage, and have a good estimate of the current draw for the amp, you will get very accurate results. Sheldon |
