6GW8 substitute tube 6BM8?

Hi,

I see that a 6BM8 is similar to the 6GW8's my amp uses in it's output stage, except for pinout and that one is a sharp cutoff pentode and the other is not.

Could I just change the pinout of the socket and use 6BM8's in place of the 6GW8?

I know some say the 6GW8 sounds better, but they're getting hard to find.

What do you all think?
