I've heard that you can put you power supply filter choke on the grounded side of your supply so you don't need a high insulation rating.
My question is will this work for audio, I read it in an ARRL handbook. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't but I wanted to ask first. Thanks, Nick |

So there won't be any adverse sonic effects?

No there won't be any sonic effects. Just make sure the 0V connection is AFTER the choke. This often done in Single Ended Triode Amps using tubes like an 845 which sounds best with anode voltages up around 1100 to 1200 volts. In fact nearly every one of these I've seen had the choke in the "ground" side of the power supply. it is simply safer there rather than sitting with 1200 Volts on it.
Cheers, Ian |
