Default source for knobs

Hi all,

I'm looking for some simple aluminum knobs between 3/4 and 1-1/4" diameter with 1/4" inset for my preamp. I've seen a few on ebay coming from HK but would like some domestic alternatives. Any recommendations?

thanks,

gary

I too could do with a good supplier of knobs and other trinkets for finishing my amps off. These after thought bits and pieces make my amps look like school projects instead of the cutting edge professional design they really are LOL

Maybe browse the Mouser online catalog... Alcoswitch (now owned by Tyco) has a large offering of machined alloy knobs in many styles. You do have to look to find a cutting-edge style that matches your cutting-edge design.

For some other nice bits, I recently tried Front Panel Express and had some nice end panels made for an interface box (XLR balanced to RCA unbalanced 4:1) built in a Hammond 1455 series extruded alloy case. They machined the mounting holes for XLR connectors, RCA jacks, switches and countersunk holes with color-filled engraving. Quite nice and not too expensive.

Like Microsoft said, if you can't make it work well, at least make it look pretty.

I've bought some nice knobs from Digikey and Allied Electronics. Though I have to admit I've also pulled stuff off of vintage equipment.

I have found a few nice knobs on greEdBay - check out the guitar listings....there are tons cool/normal knobs for relatively cheap.

Those are pretty nice. I also like the Cary knobs from AES and the AudioNote knobs from Parts Connexion.

There's also THL Audio, they have quite a large selection of knobs. Although, just a word of caution, I've had mixed results dealing with them in terms of delivery times and communication.

And if FPE is to your liking you really should have a look at www.cam-expert.com - same service, can even accept FPE generated files and usually 10 to 15% cheaper. And faster to boot!
