My power transformer runs at 120-degrees-F. Too hot? The EI stack is 1-1/2 x 3 x 3-1/2 inches. The transformer is 170-0-170 and 6.3, and I'm drawing 30 ma through each channel and less than 1 A total, for the heaters.
Second question: Can I use a 250-0-250 transformer and two SS bridges as if it were two 250-0 transformers? Center tap and one leg to left channel bridge, and same center tap and other leg to right channel bridge? Or do the two bridges form a short circuit across the transformer? If it does work, do I keep the ground legs of the bridges separate, or tie them together? I'm never afraid to let on how little I know. Ed

120 F sounds pretty cool to me. If you can keep your hand on the core, it's a cool running tranny.
Typically, I have found the ability to keep my hand on for no more than a few seconds, and get years and years of life out of them. |

Answer to your second question
I dont think so, You need to seprate the 0v winding so that it is not shorted. Then only you have 2 set of winding which give you 250v-0, 250v-0. |
