Own the ED8000 myself and thought about an amplifier also - but it seems not to be really promising. Its pretty high transconductance requires appropriate handling, and since thermal runaway is a real issue, a cathode resistor is required to stabilize.

Russian similar tube is 6S19P /6С19П/ - very nice tube with neutral sounding and deep scene! I build SE and I liked it!
