As I understand it Wavebourns proposal is not so much for regulation as ut for reducing ripple with a MOSFET gyrator.
No, I used SS gyrators to load triodes, it is a different story; what I propose now, a R-C filter with big time constant and a source follower.

Sorry Wavebourn, the dumb Swede used the wrong expression .
Still your intention was not regulation, but ripple reduction, or?
You never reported anything about the Alligtor working or not?

...or effective ripple reduction.
Vgs will be almost constant causing almost constant 3V Vds enough for ripple reduction, while power loss will be very small, and it will work equally well no matter how big or small is a voltage in the power outlet.

ago, not too recently. I can't seem to find the darn drawing of
it now. If you can find, or repost the circuit I am referring to?
Do you think there is any way to make an anti-triode of it?
It was an ordinary gyrator, to avoid a choke and it's artifacts:
Hi Revintage,
this has put the cat among the pigeons in that it was always possible to build an SE amp within the esl as a whole using a single tube driving the diaphram. Safety was not an issue with the amp being a part of the speaker. obviously, imho there is no need for the current compensating circuitry provided by the pentode, being there only to balance the DC in the O/P tranny.
Mike.
