Hey all !
I'm in the process of building my first tube preamp (first tube project actually !!!), and am currently speccing out parts that I may need. I've decided on the JELabs transformer output 76 design, but am scratching my head at the PSU. I've been using PSUD to model an LCLC, but am not sure how to model it for a parallel/stereo supply. I know the over all current draw will be 10ma (each 76 will draw 5ma), but if the psu is to be split (like the schematics on this page : http://members.myactv.net/~je2a3/se300b.htm ), how should I model it ? Should it still be a single LCLC with 10ma (considering the branched psu will actually be an LC -> LC one channel, LC other channel ...)? Am I making sense ? I just wanna get it right, as the voltage output on the design is WIDELY different going from 10ma to 5ma ... |

The best way is to just parallel the parts after the split, and double the current for a single leg.
Take a split supply with two LCR legs: Let's say each L is 2H and 100 Ohm, the cap is 50uF, the series resistor is 100 Ohm, and the current draw is 10 mA. The parallel combination would be modeled for L as 1H and 50 Ohm, for C as 100uF, for R as 50 Ohm, and for I as 20mA. Sheldon |
