You laugh... but this whole iPod / tube-amp business appears to be lucrative. Or is it ludicrous?

That kit is actually quite interesting... and probably in-line prrice wise with a lot of other gear. Seems to be OTL with custom built high-impedance speakers.

And i'm sure that there are a lot of people out there with so much money they have no qalms choosing something based on "what is the most expensive thing i can buy"

Apple makes more monet on iPod licencing than on actual iPod sales... tells you something about the size of the iPod axxesories industry.

And now with the Wadia iTransport, a really good DAC and lossless files (my iPod has never seen an MP3) , the iPod befomes a world-class digital source.

Speaking specifically of this one...

http://www.fat-man.co.uk/docs/produc...alveDock.shtml

someone should take them to task... this is a 13W chipamp with a tube buffer, not a valve amplifier.

Made in Korea by HCT it is a fairly reasonable piece of kit.

I like the way the ad says "unexpectedly sold out"

At that price, I bet they were surprised to sell even one (which maybe all they had)

Looks nicely made too, with 6AS7 output tubes. I'm guessing the speaker boxes have transformers in them
