300B Transformer temperature

Hello, my 300B SE Transformer is very hot when I burn it about one - two hours, the power transformer temperature will up to 60-70C. is it no problems??

Assume you mean the mains transformer? (Hot output trafo would be bad news).

SE Amplifier can heat their mains trafo, especially:

- not-so-good transformer with 15 to 25W of iron losses;
- capacitor-input filter power supply design.

It's probably OK, but might be wise to find a way of measuring the temperature, so that you can keep watch on it. 70 deg C is probably fine, but much more is a sign of trouble.

Be sure to turn it off when you go out!

If you can hold your hand on it for 10 seconds or more it is probably fine.

If you can install a separate filament transformer it might help it.

Yes, the mains transformer hot !! It is improssible hold the hand on it for 10 seconds ,1-2 seconds only!!

Use a small, very quiet fan to cool it.. Your reward will be a power transformer that does not prematurely short its high voltage secondary..

What is the power transformer in question? That is very, very warm.
