Default I'm new here..... :(

Hey everyone. I just joined.. I've been reading posts for a few days now. I've been playing guitar for 20 years and am JUST ow deciding I'd like to make a tube amp. I've had several over the years...JCM's, Twins, Ampegs, THD.. I really have never modified an amp or played with tube selection. My knowledge of tubes is laughable. So...... to the pint, i bought a silvertone organ amp off of ebay the other day. I found a few threads on similar chassis. Can anyone help me through converting this into a BASIC guitar amp ? Any help for the new guy would be greatly appreciated. I have pics and specs on what I have, I'll try to post it. Thanks, Carlin.

Carlin,
Since you want to use this for a guitar amp, I'd look for guitar amps you like using similar tube compliment.

Off the top of my head, the Matchless spitfire might be close (12ax7's and el84pp).

Or use the 12ax7 for gain and tone stack, 12at7 for the PI to drive the el84 PP. Look at the Fender field guide for ideas on similar Fender front ends and the Matchless for the outputs. I'm not smart enough to know if this will actually work.

Just be careful if this is your first amp build.

Here is something close to copy.

The EZ81 is the same as a 6CA4
Leave the 12AT7 phase splitter as is.
Just ditch the tremlo stuff which uses the 2nd 12Ax7 which you don't have.

Cheers,
Ian

Looks like a good start for an 18W 18 watt fora .
