I would like to build an headphone amplifier. The concept that i have made up is: OTL, Ultra Fast Diode Rectifier, Relatively low voltage, One Tube channel. What tube would you suggest i use?
And mind that the output impedance must be 50 or below!

Yours headfones - low impedance /30 - 60 ohm/ or higt /200-300-500 ohm/?? It's very important!!!

6S45 = 6C45 ?
Simple 6C45 power amp here: http://www.paeng-design.com/devices_frame.htm (in section: High ó tubes, Part 111) Adapt to headphone by changing transformer ratio? 6C45 datasheet suggests limited input swing / bias, so will need attenuator at input if using 2V output from CD player. Anecdotal evidence suggests 6C45 oscillates easily, so use well regulated supply and grid stopper resistors. More info here: http://www.vt52.com/info/measure/6s45/6s45.html ...and also in projects section of the site. Good luck. : ) |

I don't think you wil be able to power 55 ohm headphones with a single tube OTL. You will need push-pull with feedback to be output transformerless. Or you could use a solid state buffer with a single tube gain stage.

I try to escape from SS. Eventually only SS rectifier. I gues what i want i can't find. My new idea is a OTL with 6S19P as output tube, and 6N23P or 6N24P as input tube. Can someone give me a scheme of such an amp?
