What to swap a 6AV6 for?

I just bought an old vintage guitar amp and it is equipped with 4 6AV6's. These tubes are not easy access for me and I am unable to order them.

Is there any other more common tubes I can replace the 6AV6's with?

The 6AT6 and the 6AQ6 will work but both will give you less gain. These tubes were as common as dirt during the 1950's and 1960's. Often found in old radios. Any NOS tube seller should have them cheap. AES has them for $1.65 each.

I would have thought you should be able to get 6AV6 from any of your US Suppliers.
If NOT then OZ supplier has them although price is about US$10 each.

The 6AV6 is a triode + dual diode, That is, it is a high Mu Triode with 2 additional "diode" plates (anodes). The characteristics of the Triode are identical to each half of a 12AX7. You often see 6AV6 in older guitar amps, particularly in some Japanese Amps like Tiesco. They use the triode section and just leave the 2 diode plates unconnected.

Tubelab is correct in that a 6AT6 should work.

An EBC91 is also the same thing if you see that weird number show up on anyones listings.
