Hi all,
I posted this in digital, this is probably a better place My Audio Note DAC 1 uses 6922 / 6DJ8 tubes. I want to swap them for russian 6n6p's. Pinout is practically the same, but where a 6922 uses 300 mA for the heaters, a 6n6p uses 750 The power transformer only has voltage ratings, so I'm wondering if it can take that Anyone? Thanks |

hey-Hey!!!,
If your heate winding will deliver the 6.3V with the 6H6Pi and doesn't get too hot, you'll be fine. I doubt it will though, you're looking at nearly an amp more to the load. cheers, Douglas

hey-Hey!!!,
I thought of a few things too late to edit. Sort of confirmation/proceedural stuff. Measure voltage on the pins( 4&5) with the 6922 installed, and then with 6H6Pi installed. If there is not a lot of change( like perhaps the 6922's running 7V and the 6H6 dropping to 6.2V), I'd feel better. Add this all to the heat warning, but keep in mind 'hot' for a power TX is ~boiling water; so if you can keep your hand on it( again, be aware of change from baseline; lots hotter is a risk ). cheers, Douglas
