Default Disassembling output transformer

I have some parafeed transformers that are in channel frames and lacquered up. Is there a recommended way to take them apart? Some way to remove lacquer without actually damaging anything? I have some new lams to use.

Get out the blow-torch.....
Heat the lams then dissassemble using thick leather gloves....
As you dissassemeble....the lams will cool and varnish will harden..then you may need to re-heat them....
The varnish will start bubbling...where saftey googles, since the varnish may have a air-pocket that tends to pop....

I used an old thin steak knife to take apart a tektronix power transformer. Hammer it between the lams to break the lacquer up. The first few are a pain to remove but once you get room to work its much easier.

Hi,

you can try dipping the traffo into a canfull of lacquer thinner and let is stay there for a week....make sure it is covered tight...

this is what i do when i want to preserve the coil....
