he would not consider the opinions posted, as valid

no offense
but maybe you should take another read .. and try to be less subjective

finally,
i hope that John Broskie
comes arond himself

I think he wouldgive you and us all a good reply.
One answer that would be 100 % On Topic.
Even seen through any coloured sunglasses.

Well I think that is because leadbelly REALLY meant it to be funny. Sure put a smile on my face.

Lineup, John doesn't "do" forums. Too much of a time-sink (and he's probably right).

No, you completely misunderstood my point. So did Karsten. OF COURSE I think highly of JB. Firstly, wouldn't I have to follow or read his blog closely enough to notice the change when the Aikido went commercial? Secondly, as I have tried to point out, look up the definition of "mourn". If I didn't think highly of his older blogs, would I suggest there was a need to grieve?

Karsten's post was off the topic I tried to start: JB's blog. Karsten didn't discuss the blog at all, which was the topic I put in the subject line, just that JB was a great guy, which I doubt that anybody here disputes.

Yes I was also trying to be funny, the smiley was no accident.

Did you really think that any attack on Broskie was going to be well received. Maybe your've just grown out of his target audience.

Stop digging.

I am sure he "does" forums, and I am sure he reads his emails.

Default I just looked at the site again

and saw an in-depth analysis of the "Ultrapath" circuit; last time I stopped by Broskie was analyzing that amp in Audio Amateur that supposedly uses an IC power amp module to "boost" the output of a tube in an SE circuit; he completely debunked the concept. Going way back on the site shows simpler concepts but the same DIY spirit of essentially giving away hard-earned knowledge for free. So I conclude that the post that started this thread with the comment that TubeCAD "It's such a pale imitation of what it once was" was nothing more than a troll from someone seeking attention.

Thanks for that. So blogs made after my thread post are useful to prove my motives? You got me there, Holmes! What detective work!

In all seriousness I see that the blog is back on track and I am SO happy.

"Like the citizens of New Orleans, I expected much worse. The Big-Easy folk never bore Hurricane Ike’s full wrath; nor did I get the storm of angry e-mail against which I had braced myself, in the wake of my recent Ultrapath blog. In fact, not one reader complained. Instead, I received several e-mails with subject lines along the following lines: “Ultra-pathetic” and “Ultra-waste-of-time.” The sentiment was the same in all of them: “Thank God. I thought I was alone."

Never used ultrapath in any of my designs because of my general preference for fixed bias and regulated or well filtered supplies in power amplifiers. I do use the hum canceling capacitive divider (supply to cathode, cathode to ground to be clear) mentioned in the blog in the rare cathode biased dht amplifier I have done, and as he describes it works well, but requires some tweaking to get the deepest null.

The comments on capacitor tolerances were quite interesting..
