I have a set these stamped:
5881
" JoLida Tube Factory "
MADE IN RUSSIA

- manufacturer is " PAANO " when I read this russian letters right -

It looks like Sovtek that BAT uses in preamp PSU stages for instance.

Looks close to the Reflektor 6P3S-E that's been made at Saratov for decades. Sold often as the Sovtek 5881, or with Russian markings when sourced NOS or from Russia...

Thanks all for replies......Rod is probably the closest & probably Soviet makes. Like so many mysterious makes there is no single distinguishing feature. or is there ?
My next p-p amp project would be using double sextets (5881) in p-p using 5881's and moving away from double quads (6550) shown in the photo without top frame guard. This entails customised o/p trannies and other items.
This course is persued by Smith in the Mesa Boogie "Baron".
Amps of this class are capable of producing an incredible amount of power of exceedingly good quality.
