The 12AX7 is probably the most common preamp valve in guitar amps today. All popular amplifier designs use them, so it's impossible to pick just one to give you. It all depends on what your preferences are. Here is a good starting point for guitar amp schematics. Just look up some of your favorite amps or the amps of your heroes.

V1b is loaded by 68k || 50k = 29k.

I agree with Tubes4e4 that the output load is not ideal in that circuit. What does the feedback from the output valve anode to the input valve cathode do to the output impedance, though?

I have altered the cct drastically just to use the first half of the valve. The second stage is no longer used.
