Default Nice job!

G,

Can you describe your PSU especially in terms of filtering? I breadboarded a se el84 with no hum but have since built the final version but--guess what--hum!

It's weird, it hums sometimes and at other times not. I can tightly grasp a signal input lead and get more hum??

I thought it was the tube proximity to the transformer but looking at your rig I don't think so.

Anyway, great job and I am excited for you.

Rick

BTW, I enjoyed listening to my breadboard so much that I may just go back to it for a while.

The orientation of the xformers may be the cause of it.

Cheers,

Hi Frag,

The power supply is essentially a Zen power supply. For some reason I can't pull up the Zen site so I can't leave a link. The supply uses two 32 uF dual section caps and two 3.3uF metalized poly caps. The cool thing is that the decware site has a pictorial step by step instruction manual for building an older model of their amp. Who am I to look a gift horse in the mouth. I changed the value of a few resistors for the 5687 but I used their layout. When their site is back up I will send the link.

Here is the link to the Decware instructions. It's a nice simple and effective layout.
