I recently finished my SE 6550 amplifier (see "class project")- and I ran the prototype direct from my cd player with no problems. Ever since I wired-in the volume control (100K pot)- I've got 120Hz hum.
Any suggestions?? |

You probably need to ground the pot. On an alps, you can connect a grounded wire to the screw on the pot case. Otherwise, use some copper foil to ground the shaft.

On pots with a metal cover/case,I usually use some sand paper, and solder a short wire to it,which runs to ground.
If it's not grounded (through the short wire,or chassis mounting,or w/e),I always get hum when I touch the pot shaft to adjust volume, etc.
