Default Putting serial number on tubes

I have a ton of tubes for my amps. I now have a nice new tube tester and want to record the test results for each tube. I figure I'll keep the results on a spreadsheet and reference the tube by a number. It is easy for me to label the base of an 8 pin tube, but how can I put on something semi permanent onto a little 9 pin preamp tube, that won't screw with the tube or get mucked up by heat?

thanks

Tektronix used a simple paper label on their tubes that seems to hold up under the heat. I thought it might be metal foil, but close inspection confirms that it's just paper.

duh? I feel silly. Your reply made me think of the label maker I have in the office. I just checked - they say the labels can handle "extreme tempaeratures"

Not quite sure what "extreme" means, but I'll test it on a few (old) power tubes and find out!

thanks

Let us know how it works! I've got a Brother label maker and labeling various tubes makes a lot of sense.
