noisy rectifier tube

hello there
i have finally got my SE tube amp working.

picture below

however i have noticed that the rectifier tune is making an audible noise, it doesn't sound like a hum more of a sort of creaky squeal. its not that loud and doesn't seem to affect the sound from the speakers.
i noticed that if i clamp my fingers round the tube (when its not too hot off course) the sound is a bit quieter. is this normal

is there potentially something wrong here or is this normal

Hi,

does this noise stop once the rectifier has warmed up?

If so, it just the current rushing into the rectifier and producing a squealing or banging and clanging noise.
I've had the same "problem" with an EZ81 on one of my headphone amps (and I asked about the noise here, too...).

I my case I just added a bit of resistance (220 ohms) before the rectifier tube, and now I have silence.

my 2 eurocents...

A rectifier to produce a mechanical noise I wouldn't consider normal.
Try a new rectifier...
