Hi All
Am a relative newbie, and what experience I have is some years old (used to rebuild/mod Quad valve amps) I'd like to build a tube phono preamp and after looking at circuits till my head wants to explode, I keep coming back to the EAR 834p as being within my capabilities and simple and elegant. The trouble is there now seems to be variants of it (like using 808 tubes) and more particularly on the power supply. Is there any consensus on what is a good version bearing in mind my preference for (initially at least until I really know what I'm doing) keeping it simple and also a strong preference for keeping it all tube as much as possible with a slight horror of SS devices ANY help advice or simple pointing in the right direction would be really appreciated thanks Graham UK |
